What is a Lodestone?

Lodestones are magnetic rocks made of a mineral called Magnetite. Magnetite is made-up mostly of iron. A piece of Magnetite that has become magnetic is called a Lodestone. Our lodestones come from Southern Utah and are 100% naturally magnetic. Read moreĀ about lodestones.

Answers to Questions about our Lodestones

Where do your lodestones come from? Our high-grade lodestones are sourced directly from the mineral-rich state of Utah, USA. We take pride in providing authentic natural specimens.

How strong is the magnetism? These are natural magnetic rocks, not industrial neodymium magnets. They are strong enough to easily pick up paperclips, staples, and iron filings, making them perfect for science projects, classroom demonstrations, or as a unique addition to a rock collection.

Are the paperclips included with my order? The paperclips shown in our photos are for scale and to demonstrate the magnetism of the rock. While they are not included, you can use any household paperclips or other small iron-based metal objects to test your new lodestone the moment it arrives!

What size will I receive? Our standard high-grade lodestone is approximately 1.75 inches. Because these are natural specimens, each one is unique in shape and character, but we ensure every piece meets our size and magnetism standards.
